TN_202601_016_Packaging Engineer

▪ Manage packaging development projects (internal, supplier, customer) from initiation through launch (also SCR) till end of packaging life time considering all relevant guidelines and rules. (e.g. TST, CA) and maintenance of  customer packaging portals and supplier packaging database.
▪ Define needed returnable packaging quantity and initiate the order.
▪ Manage in SAP e.g. material master data, packaging instructions, ... .
▪ Manage modifications of packaging for existing components and products
▪ Working within cross-functional teams (quality, finance, purchasing, controlling, engineering, operations, consultants and outside vendors)
▪ Development and coordination of cost savings initiatives as related to packaging designs and materials.
▪ Hands-on evaluation of packaging for conformance to project requirements.
▪ Create, maintain and communicate primary, secondary, and pallet packaging specifications within the plant for all new and running products and in relevant tools acc.to TST, CA.
▪ Write, review, and approve packaging specifications.
▪ Development of the first packaging concept including cost for customer RFQ.
▪ Budget planning of the Continental owned returnable packaging material.▪ Partner of Plant / FF SCM management in all questions towards packaging techniques.
▪ Consults the NPL / SLM manager with regards to logistics packaging requirements
▪ Cooperation with the controlling department in case of yearly budget planning of packaging.
▪ Coordination of procurement and replacement of returnable packaging material▪  Supporting Material Flow process improvements in the areas Receiving, Warehouse, Production and Dispatch
▪  Supporting the disposition of customer, supplier and internal returnables
▪  Supporting the management of empties (MoE) activities - coordination of procurement, replacement, scrapping and cleaning of returnables

Bachelor/master degree in an engineering discipline or qualified technician with professional experience

At least 2 years in either a manufacturing/logistics environment, or equipment and packaging technology

Lead of SCM project or project with interface to SCM preferred

Knowledge in supply chain processes, transportation requirements for all transport modes, automotive packaging process (e.g. ESD (Electro Static Discharge) and corrosion protection, technical cleanliness, packaging testing methods, Industry 4.0)

Experience in work with international teams
Intercultural know-how preferred
