Your tasks

System Architecture Ownership & Technical Leadership (Primary Responsibility)

  • Own the end-to-end system architecture of HPC solutions for JOEM customers, ensuring technical consistency across hardware, software, network, and system interfaces.
  • Translate customer requirements and business needs into clear and feasible system-level concepts and architecture.
  • Define and maintain system boundaries, interfaces, performance targets, and scalability strategy throughout the lifecycle of the project.
  • Ensure traceability from high-level requirements down to system and component specifications.
  • Guide and support internal teams in system integration, validation, and troubleshooting.
  • Serve as the final technical authority for architecture-related decisions in Japan-localized projects.

Customer Interface & Technical Alignment

  • Act as the primary technical counterpart to JOEM system engineers, with a focus on requirement analysis, architecture definition, and trade-off evaluation.
  • Facilitate early alignment on system concept, architecture feasibility, and interface specifications.
  • Participate in customer architecture reviews, clarification meetings, and technical workshops.
  • Provide guidance on how customer needs map to the existing Continental platform architecture and identify necessary adaptations.

Cross-functional Collaboration & Governance

  • Collaborate closely with internal experts across system, software, hardware, and validation to ensure holistic system integration.
  • Drive architecture reviews, design reviews, and FMEA reviews across disciplines.
  • Ensure alignment with global platform architects and platform governance boards in Europe and Asia.
  • Monitor technical risks related to architecture decisions and support mitigation planning.

Localization & Regional Collaboration

  • Lead the localization of system architecture to fulfill Japan-specific requirements such as DTV, ETC, VICS.
  • Coordinate with development hubs in China, India, and ASEAN to support implementation and delivery of architecture-defined functions.
  • Act as a local interface to global system architecture and portfolio teams, ensuring bidirectional knowledge flow.

Pre-Award & Acquisition Support

  • Support the Business Development and Quote Team by analyzing customer requirements and translating them into system-level architectural assumptions.
  • Provide early architectural feasibility checks and define technical boundaries during RFQ and RFI phases.
  • Contribute to platform tailoring strategies and cost-efficient reuse of system elements.

Process Compliance & Quality Assurance

  • Ensure system architecture adheres to relevant industry standards and internal development models (e.g., ASPICE SYS, ISO 26262, cyber security).
  • Support system audits, milestone reviews, and technical design documentation for customer and internal validation.

Your profile

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 8+ years of experience in system engineering, architecture, or platform development in the automotive industry.
  • Strong experience working directly with Japanese OEMs in defining and aligning system-level requirements and architectures.
  • Excellent understanding of automotive system development processes (V-shape model, ASPICE, Functional Safety).
  • Strong technical leadership and cross-functional coordination skills.
  • Fluent in Japanese and proficient in English communication (verbal and written).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Deep knowledge of HPC architectures, infotainment/IVI systems, or ADAS/vehicle networking domains.
  • Experience with embedded software platforms (e.g., Linux, QNX, Android Automotive OS).
  • Familiarity with tools such as DOORS, Enterprise Architect, MATLAB, JAZZ, JIRA, or similar.
  • Experience working with global and regional development centers in Asia and Europe.
  • Understanding of automotive cybersecurity standards (e.g., ISO/SAE 21434) is a plus.
