Optical Metrology Internship - UX (TM)

Your tasks

We are seeking an Optical Metrology Internship to join the User Experience Business Area – Display Technology Timișoara.

In this role, you will support the optical performance evaluation of automotive display modules, including display panels, backlights, and complete display assemblies, under the guidance of experienced engineers. You will contribute to hands-on optical measurement, data analysis, and documentation activities, supporting development and industrialization projects for Cluster, CID, and HUD applications.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Supporting optical measurement activities for display panels, backlights, and complete modules, following defined test procedures and specifications;
  • Assisting in the setup, execution, and validation of optical measurements (luminance, homogeneity, chromaticity, contrast, reflectance, and visual appearance) using optical metrology equipment such as imaging colorimeters and spectroradiometers;
  • Collecting, structuring, and analyzing measurement data against technical targets and requirements;
  • Supporting the preparation of measurement reports, presentations, and technical documentation for internal teams;
  • Collaborating with development, quality, and industrialization teams to understand how optical performance relates to design, process, and manufacturing constraints;
  • Assisting in technical characterization activities and issue analysis to identify deviations, trends, or anomalies in optical performance data.

Internship focus:

  • Gaining practical knowledge of automotive display optical performance parameters and measurement methodologies in an industrial R&D environment;
  • Building a foundation for future roles in display development, metrology, or system engineering.
