Your tasks

Role Purpose

The Category Manager is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring the best value for assigned categories (e.g., Display, Connector, Mechanical parts). This role focuses on supplier scouting, strategy development, contract management, negotiation, RFQ process leadership,  claim resolution & escalation with a particular emphasis on suppliers in China.

Key Responsibilities

1. Scouting Process

  • Identify and evaluate potential suppliers in China who can offer competitive pricing and meet CSV requirements.
  • Conduct market research, supplier identification, initial contact, capability assessments, site visits, and pre-qualification.

2. Supplier Strategy

  • Develop and implement supplier selection, development, and management plans.
  • Perform risk assessments, manage supplier relationships, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

3. Contract Management

  • Ensure all supplier agreements are properly negotiated, documented, and managed.
  • Draft, review, negotiate, execute, and monitor contracts, including compliance and renewal/termination processes.

4. Negotiation

  • Achieve optimal terms and conditions with suppliers through effective negotiation.
  • Prepare negotiation strategies, conduct negotiations, document agreements, and ensure follow-up actions.

5. RFI/RFQ Process Lead (AP Support)

  • Lead and support the Request for Quotation (RFQ) process.
  • Conduct best price negotiations with suppliers to secure project acquisitions.
  • Finalize supplier selection in collaboration with the core team.

6. Claim Process

  • Manage claims related to quality, delivery, or contractual issues.
  • Identify issues, document claims, communicate with suppliers, negotiate resolutions, and ensure timely closure.

7. Escalation

  • Manage escalations from production or other cross-functional teams, especially those related to quality, material shortages, cooperation, and other critical issues.
  • Act as the key contact point for urgent supplier-related matters, ensuring prompt resolution and effective communication with all stakeholders.

Your profile

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or related field.
  • Proven experience in procurement, sourcing, or category management (preferably in mechanical components).
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Experience with supplier management, especially in China, is an advantage.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple priorities.
