SQM Engineer – Global Category (Decorative Plastic)

Your tasks

We are seeking a SQM Engineer – Global Category Decorative Plastic to join our team in Prai, Malaysia. In this critical role, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality of Decorative Plastic from global suppliers, driving continuous improvement, and maintaining high standards across our supply chain.

  • Manage the Quality Assurance & Escalation Management by actively managing supplier component reviews, resolving conflicts, and escalating issues promptly with actionable proposals.
  • Plan & conduct the VDA 6.3 audits
  • Maintain supplier folders in TEAMS/share drives, manage GQA status in CLM, and ensure proper documentation in SAT tools.
  • Ensure the implementation of Category Quality Standards.
  • Handling of Engineering Changes and PCN's for series production components.
  • To Drive Supplier Quality Improvement Programs (SQIP) if needed.
  • Analysis and troubleshooting of plastic injection molding process and secondary processes (e.g. painting, plating, laser etching, etc.) during the different phases of APQP.
  • Work with plant Supplier Quality (SQM CI/SP) for activities in which collaboration is needed, (e.g. escalations, technical support, L/L).

Your profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Industrial, or related Engineering field
  • Familiar with PCB manufacturing or chemical processes, skilled in automotive quality tools like APQP, FMEA, PPAP, SPC, MSA.
  • Strong understanding of AIAG, IATF 16949, VDA 6.3, ISO 14001, Six Sigma, and 8D problem-solving.
  • Proven experience in continuous improvement, production, and escalation handling.
  • Excellent presentation and negotiation skills; fluent in English, proficient in MS Office, MS Project, Minitab, Visio.
  • Willing to travel domestically and internationally, having analytical, structured, results-driven, decisive, confident, proactive, and a strong team player.
